After 15 years in this industry,
if I could pinpoint one key mistake that most upstart "Internet
Based" business owners make is "flying solo." Unlike a
traditional business, owning and operating an "Internet Based"
Home Business allows you to work and train with others (who have
gone before you) versus trying to figure things out on your own.
One of the best decisions I have
made, since being in business, was the decision to seek out and
learn from a mentor who was where I wanted to be in life.
My philosophy is this... "If you want to become a millionaire,
become friends with one and learn from them!" After all, I wouldn't learn
culinary skills from a brain surgeon, nor would I have the
butcher team me to style hair.
One of the most important keys to
running a successful business is understanding "target
marketing." Just like I wouldn't learn hair styling from
my local meat carver, it would be useless for me to market and
advertise something to people who already had what I was
selling. A great case in point is the current "home
business niche market." Most of the advertising
done in this market consists of people trying to sell a
"business opportunity" to those who already have one... and it
doesn't work!
